episode seven - anna meares

Cyclist Anna Meares needs no introduction. She’s Australian sporting royalty. But for the kids who are too young to have seen her in all her glory - she’s a 4 time Olympian, and 6 time Olympic medallist, and a 5 time Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist. During her career, she won 11 World Championships, cementing her spot as the most decorated female track cyclist of all time.

​

Anna shares insights into performing under pressure at the highest level, learning from failure, the role of successful teams, and the importance of valuing mental health as highly as we treat our physical health.

  

Anna is incredibly genuine, honest and articulate about everything she experienced both during and after her cycling career. She really is a true Aussie hero.

episode eight - ellie cole

Swimmer Ellie Cole is a bloody legend. She’s a 6 time Paralympic champion, a world record holder and an incredible role model. In 2020, Ellie featured in the amazing Netflix documentary, Rising Phoenix.

 

At age three, Ellie’s right leg was amputated above the knee after she suffered a life-threatening sarcoma cancer. Cole is classified in the S9 category in swimming due to her amputation, a classification that also includes swimmers who have joint restrictions in one leg and those with double below-knee amputations.

 

Ellie has a wicked sense of humour, she’s warm and open, and as you’ll hear, has a really beautiful sense of appreciation for life. She shares some incredible insights around performance, and that even when you're the best in the world, it's so much more important to be happy, than to be successful.

episode six - maddy proud

At just 16 years of age, netballer Maddy Proud became the youngest ever player to be contracted to a professional team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds. In 2017, Maddy moved to Sydney to join the NSW Swifts, who she captained to a premiership in 2019, after being sidelined with an ACL rupture.

 

In 2020, following an impressive Suncorp Super Netball Season, Maddy was selected for her first Australian Diamonds Netball squad. Maddy has some really unique insights on battling through injury and rehab, while trying to lead a team from the sidelines. She has even written a book - Grace on the Court, after seeing a gap in the market around books about teenage girls playing sport.

episode five – jess fox

Jess Fox represents Australia in canoe slalom in both kayaking (K1) and canoe (C1) events. In 2018, Jess became the greatest paddler of all time, after surpassing both her mother and father’s records in the sport, to now hold 7 world championship titles. Jess is currently preparing for her third Olympics in Tokyo, after winning Silver in London, and Bronze in Rio 2016. Jess is down to earth, genuine, and incredibly humble about everything she has achieved. Jess shares some really unique insights into how she prepares and adapts to unknowns that lie ahead of her, and what she has learnt from moments of failure, in order to bounce back to achieve the ultimate success.

episode four – jessica hull

Middle-distance runner Jess Hull has had an incredible year. While most of us have been stuck inside during 2020, Jess was off breaking the Australian record in both the 1500m and 5000m. She has qualified for her first Olympics in Tokyo, and is currently a professional athlete with Nike. She has a seriously exciting future ahead of her. Jess shares some amazing insights about how she focuses on what is happening in the here and now, and how she pushes through in moments of wanting to give up.

episode three – cayla george

Basketballer Cayla George has an incredible resume - she is currently in the North Queensland bubble, preparing for her 13th season in the WNBL. She has won Commonwealth Games Gold, a World Champs Silver, a Euroleague championship, played in the WNBA and represented Australia at the Rio Olympics.

 

Cayla has used the struggles she experienced as a youngster around self worth, to now empower the next generation of girls coming through the Opals squad, and has mentoring programs to teach young girls about confidence, culture and commitment.

episode two – melissa wu

Australian diver Melissa Wu competed at her first Commonwealth games at just 13 years old, and is looking to compete at her fourth Olympic games in Tokyo, all before the age of 30. When she’s not training and competing, Mel manages her activewear label, owns a gym with her brother, and is coaching the next generation of young Aussie divers.

 

An incredible, humble athlete who has learnt how to deal with the demands of a physically and mentally taxing sport, and who has recognised the importance of family in all aspects of life, Mel shares some great insights into how she has learnt from challenges, such as injury, to help her prepare for success under pressure.
